9 Kaweka Street was the first development for Kemkar Construction (formerly Desirable Homes) and consisted of 5 Standalone houses. There was a significant amount of earthworks to be done as there was both cut/fill sections around the property, and a long retaining wall had to be built for both the higher and lower side of the property. 9 Kaweka Street is at the end of the cul-de-sac so the construction process was relatively easy in terms of managing traffic. Services were already located on site, making the earthworks/drainage process relatively simple. There was an unforeseen circumstance where silty clay was found on site, which was unsuitable to construct on - it had to be completely removed and refilled. Chris' experience as a builder and developer for many years was invaluable to managing this circumstance and controlling the increase in cost. This development was successful due to the care taken by the team and our ability to overcome such circumstances effectively.
